Giving Back The Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas
A Non-profit organization founded in 1995, The Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas is a perpetual non-profit corporation engaged in providing a promise of hope and a haven of safety for women and children who seek protection and relief from domestic abuse while residing in Faulkner county, Arkansas, and surrounding areas.
According to the U.S. Surgeon General, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the United States. Violent behavior in a relationship is almost certain to be repeated, again and again, unless there is intervention. Children raised in a chaotic, abusive environment are seven times more like to grow up and repeat the same behavior as adults. The effects of domestic violence reach beyond the family – victims are less able to perform in a school setting, the workplace, and in normal adult relationships. Everyone in the community will feel the negative results of families who are living with violence.
Our facility offers a 24-hour Crisis Hotline along with an Emergency Shelter, and Rape Crisis Response. We hold support groups for primary and secondary victims of sexual assault, and domestic violence along with Prevention Education Programs. Safety Planning, transportation, and assistance filling out Crime Victims Reparations forms are also a part of our services. We offer Legal Advocacy, Prescription Assistance, Food/Clothing, and Child Advocacy services.
John Miller and his crew at Conway Remodeling and More, teamed up with Victoria Harvey, Owner of H2O Pools and Supplies in Conway, to help The Women’s Shelter repair some siding on their building. As part of our “Giving Back” campaign, we are proud to be a part of this organization.
