Luxury Vinyl Flooring

There are so many different flooring options available today. Choosing the right one for you can be stressful. We are going to look at why you should, or shouldn’t, go with luxury vinyl flooring for your space, and we’ll see if we can help at least a little.

The Pros of Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Don’t confuse luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) with standard vinyl flooring. While they are the same material, they have a major difference. LVF is designed to mimic other flooring products, like wood or stone.

With a photo-created image and the texture to match, LVF does an excellent job of camouflaging itself as the real thing. So it captures the look you want at a price that can save your flooring budget.

This type of flooring is also waterproof, so it can go in the kitchen, the bathroom, or into any part of the home without worry about spills to ruin the finish. Because of this feature, LVF is also very easy to maintain with a simple mopping or sweeping. The protective layer can last up to 10 years or more before it needs to be reapplied. LVF comes in a variety of styles to choose from, including luxury vinyl plank (LVP flooring) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT flooring). These allow for different installation patterns to achieve the look you want.

The Cons of Luxury Vinyl Flooring

There are some issues to be concerned with when choosing LVF, as there are with any product. For example, subfloor preparation can be extensive to lay the flooring properly.

As well, this type of flooring will not add value to your home in the same way that hardwood can.

Another key consideration is that LVF can be a slippery hazard, especially when wet.

Choosing luxury vinyl flooring in Central Arkansas can be a great benefit over other more common materials. Hopefully, this has helped you make a wise choice for your flooring replacement project.

Giving Back The Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas

A Non-profit organization founded in 1995, The Women’s Shelter of Central Arkansas is a perpetual non-profit corporation engaged in providing a promise of hope and a haven of safety for women and children who seek protection and relief from domestic abuse while residing in Faulkner county, Arkansas, and surrounding areas.
According to the U.S. Surgeon General, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the United States. Violent behavior in a relationship is almost certain to be repeated, again and again, unless there is intervention. Children raised in a chaotic, abusive environment are seven times more like to grow up and repeat the same behavior as adults. The effects of domestic violence reach beyond the family – victims are less able to perform in a school setting, the workplace, and in normal adult relationships. Everyone in the community will feel the negative results of families who are living with violence.

Our facility offers a 24-hour Crisis Hotline along with an Emergency Shelter, and Rape Crisis Response. We hold support groups for primary and secondary victims of sexual assault, and domestic violence along with Prevention Education Programs. Safety Planning, transportation, and assistance filling out Crime Victims Reparations forms are also a part of our services. We offer Legal Advocacy, Prescription Assistance, Food/Clothing, and Child Advocacy services.
John Miller and his crew at Conway Remodeling and More, teamed up with Victoria Harvey, Owner of H2O Pools and Supplies in Conway, to help The Women’s Shelter repair some siding on their building. As part of our “Giving Back” campaign, we are proud to be a part of this organization.

“The Heart of Your Home” The Kitchen

Have you ever wondered why family and friends tend to gather in the kitchen? What about the kitchen makes it a magnetic attraction? The household kitchen was designed for preparing and cooking meals. However, over the past several decades, the kitchen has slowly morphed into the epicenter of the home.

The family kitchen provides a space for fun family activities. Cooking and baking are a great bonding experience. It gives everyone an opportunity to get a little messy, create new things and learn new recipes. Remembering my grandmother’s kitchen, sitting at the kitchen table playing board games with my cousins while she is frying chicken for supper.

In recent years, families have begun to adapt their kitchens to provide a more encouraging environment to congregate. With open designs and a comforting space, family computers and daily homework time have made their way into kitchens so that kids and parents can be together while dinner is being made. Because of this shift in kitchen dynamics, it is important your kitchen space is designed to be welcoming and encouraging for your family members to come together.

Your kitchen sets the tone for the rest of your home. People invest a lot into kitchen upgrades because it is the most valuable and useful room when it comes to the resale value of your home. Your kitchen can not only provide a meal but a complete experience. An inspiring and stimulating space is the epitome of a great day!

Try small upgrades first. They can go a long way. Like painting the cabinets or changing the counter tops can dramatically change the mood of your kitchen. A new back splash or new hardware can be great additions to your overall look.

At Conway Remodeling and More, we can make your dream kitchen the heart of your home. Our skilled design specialist and team of experts provide complete design, consultation and installation services to help turn your vision from Drab to Fab!

A day in the life of quarantine

As the novel corona-virus continues to spread, national and local officials have called for people to stay in and practice social distancing. Movie theaters have closed, concerts and stage shows have been canceled or postponed, and most restaurants and bars have shut down or moved to take out/delivery only. The first couple of days being quarantined isn’t so bad. It’s kind of like a mini vacation. Not too bad. Clean out a few closets, rearrange the furniture…a little spring cleaning if you will.

Fast forward to thirty seven of quarantine. You have starred at the same four walls for the past week. Now you’re thinking how much you dislike this wall color in your living room, or you could really use some crown molding. But it is such a daunting task; you carry on. As you step into the shower, to start your day, delirium has set in and you picture yourself in a spa shower with gorgeous tile and a rain shower system. If only you knew how to do that.

Sitting on the floor playing your fifth game on Candy Land? Boy is this carpet worn? I would love to have some new wood flooring, which seems like a lot of work. If only I knew someone. You must get your kids outside in the back yard for some fresh air. While sitting out back you realize just how bad your outdoor living space seems. A new fence, a new deck…that sounds like a lot of work.

Its only lunch time on this dreary day of quarantine. The kids are starving. You set them down at the table. While they are eating, you are daydreaming about a gourmet kitchen with an island! Something you have always wanted. What kind of expertise must you have to be able to accomplish that?

Well, as luck would have it, John Miller with Conway Remodeling and More is your go-to guy. He, and his crew, has the expertise, the knowledge and the excellent craftsmanship to pull together your vision.

Giving Back

Harbor House Project blue trailer. Giving back to the community.

If you ever get the chance to take inventory of your life and identify areas where we want to make a change, consider volunteering and giving back; it can have a positive effect on your mental and physical health, help you build connections and strengthen your community.
Are funds a little tight right now? Reach out to your local Chamber of Commerce for ideas. Take advantage of your business connections and networking groups and find events and organizations that need volunteers. By volunteering your time, you will be able to build relationships and future business contacts over a good cause. As an independent professional, your talent and expertise can be just as valuable as a cash donation. Make use of your expertise and offer a free class or workshop to help people develop or improve skills related to your industry.
Build ties with your community and get the name of your business out there by sponsoring local activities such as a kids’ sports team, volunteering as a part of a highway cleanup project, or sponsor a friend who is running a 5K for a good cause.

Spearheading a fundraiser or launching an annual event tied to your business is a great way to build philanthropy into your name and culture. To start, align yourself with an organization or cause of your choice and find out what they need–clothing, gifts, mentors, food, etc.
Reach out to your contacts via email or social media and ask people to make donations to support the cause. If the charity needs cash donations, consider holding a raffle for a gift card or the latest tech gadget. Setting up donations online is a simple way to help drive people to a place where they can easily contribute.

John Miller and his team at Conway Remodeling and More, has taken these very suggestions and integrated them into their busy schedule. He has rounded up people in his community to help him get the job done. They have donated their time and labor to build a ramp for an elderly lady and painted a food truck for Harbor Home. John also works closely with Deliver Hope and Bethlehem House. He is very proud of his community and strives to help those in need. He plans to do a project once a month for various organizations or an individual who needs his help.

About Our Contractor

Owner Johnny Miller standing with three images. One is a bathroom, another is a living room, and the other is a kitchen.

I first met Johnny in junior high school. I knew, from the moment I saw him, that he was a sweet and caring person that you could trust. He had a shy smile and a laid-back persona. Through the years, Johnny has gone through an amazing transformation. From standing at the smoking hole in a faded denim jacket and full mullet, to attending the Conway Chamber Pipeline meeting in a polo or button-down shirt embroidered with his own company name, Conway Remodeling and More.

John Miller has over 21 years of experience in all aspects of the construction profession. From the inside out, he has done it all. Framing, sheetrock, tile and paint to vinyl siding, windows, and doors. John was instrumental in the most extensive restoration project to the Old State House, located in Little Rock, in its history. For 6 years he constructed sub-stations, throughout the state of Arkansas, for Entergy. John launched Conway Remodeling and More in 2019. He also graduated from the Conway Area Leadership Institute class of 2019. As a businessman and leader, John’s integrity, craftsmanship, and knowledge will get the job done right! He is extremely passionate about his business and it will be prevalent every step of the way of your project.

We started Conway Remodeling and More because we have had our fair share of remodels that have gone awry. We understand the trials and tribulations of a remodel and want to do things differently to alleviate the stress from our customers shoulders. It is important to John to see your project through to the very end, by looking through the lens of his clients. With an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, rest assured Conway Remodeling and More will be there for you. Thus, saving marriages all across Central Arkansas.
